Kilkenny's annual food festival, Savour Kilkenny, which kicks off on Friday 23 October, is expected to attract thousands of visitors to the city and contribute €2m to the local economy. Fifty local hotels, restaurants, shops and cafes are taking part in this year's festival which has a strong green theme. Events taking place over the weekend include traditional apple pressing, children's pizza parties, an artisan market, cookery demonstrations, a traditional baking competition, banquets, eco-lunches and the launch of exciting new food products.
