Kilkenny man Gary Murphy sits in ninth place after the third round of the Madrid Masters yesterday.

He was two under for the day and was best of the Irish by far. Next nearest was Damien McGrane, who lies in tied 26th place while Shane Lowry and Peter Lawrie lie further back again in tied 36th and tied 45th place respectively. Lowry had a particularly bad day yesterday as he fell 27 places from the ninth place position he had going into the third round.

England's Ross McGowan was top of the leaderboard last night, just ahead of France's Michael Lorenzo-Vera.
