Kicking On is the first children's book from Sunday Tribune writer Dave Hannigan, and it's a cracking read. Peter, Davey and the rest of the Dromtarry under-11 gaelic football team are getting ready for the season when the mysterious Shaun Reedy, a former American footballer, arrives in town and falls in love with GAA, and something happens that changes all their lives… Essential reading for all football-mad 10-year-olds.
Consider the pouffe: not only do they add texture and colour to a room but they're also very comfortable. This flower-embellished pouffe from Marks & Spencer is a little mad looking but in a very good way. We love the slightly home-spun feel to it and the rich autumnal colours; €189.
Not enough beauty products are ginger-scented in our opinion. It can be a very seductive smell – refreshing, spicy and exotic at the same time. French perfume house Roger & Gallet, which has been in business since 1892, has a really stunning ginger fragrance line, which combines Japanese and Jamaican ginger notes with neroli and bergamot. Prices start at €13.50 for the bath and shower gel; the fragrance itself (100ml) is €39 and the box it comes in is so pretty, you won't want to throw it out.
Resistance is futile. It is the season of the aviator shearling jacket. You could eschew the trend on the basis that everyone is going to be wearing them. Then again, you might want to knock such fashion elitism on the head when you consider how warm they are and how practical they are – they look equally great with your Houlihan cargo pants as they do thrown over a party dress. Topping everyone's wish list is the Burberry version but a far more budget-friendly option is this flying jacket from Oasis, which costs €188.
* We're loving... Hoss Intropia shoes
The cult Spanish label is what best-dressed feet should be wearing this season. These are €95 from Coze di Roze, Cabinteely village, Co Dublin
* We're not sure about... Sadie Frost
Her autobiography Crazy Days is out next month. But Jude has had the lawyers look at it and she's not really going to reveal any dirt about BF Kate Moss. Therefore, we can't be bothered
* We're lusting after... Stella McCartney's Falabella bag
Gosh. Stella's chain embellished bag is a thing of beauty. Christine Bleakley has one the WAG's preferred colour, white, but we think the purple is more striking and autumnal. €695 from net-a-porter
* We're can't wait for... 'Grazia' for him
It's launching this autumn and it's a once-off but a second one is planned for spring 2011. Exactly what the thinking, well-dressed man needs
