Under pressure: Mick McCarthy

MICK McCARTHY is back feeling the heat as Wolves dropped to the bottom of the Premier League table after losing 2-0 to West Ham United.


An own goal from Ronald Zubar was followed up by a goal from Freddie Sears as the Hammers claimed three crucial points. Stoke City also celebrated a win as they beat Everton 2-0 with Kenwyne Jones and an own goal from Phil Jagielka proving to be enough.


In the Championship, Roy Keane's Ipswich had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Coventry with Rory Fallon's opener cancelled out by Freddy Eastwood. Norwich caused an upset by snatching a 1-0 win over QPR thanks to Russell Martin's strike. A hat-trick from Jason Puncheon fired Millwall to a 3-0 win at home to Crystal Palace, who sacked manager George Burley afterwards. Luciano Beechio scored to salvage a 1-1 draw for Leeds with Middlesbrough after David Wheater had scored.


Burnley stormed to a 4-2 win over Sheffield United with Mark Yeates's opener cancelled out by goals from Chris Eagles, Chris Iwelumo, Jay Rodriguez and Steven Thompson. Leicester City got back to winning ways as Darius Vassell fired them past Hull City with a 1-0 scoreline.


Bristol City proved too strong for Cardiff with goals from Brett Pitman, Lee Johnson and Jamal Campbell-Ryce inspiring them to a 3-0 win. Nottingham Forest shared a point with Barnsley in a 2-2 draw. Derby beat Preston 2-1 with Chris Porter getting both goals. Darren Pratley helped Swansea beat Reading 1-0. Doncaster claimed a 3-0 victory over Scunthorpe after Billy Sharp, James Hayter and Joseph Mills netted.


Meanwhile in the SPL, Hearts edged the Edinburgh derby with Kevin Kyle's late goal securing a 1-0 win over Hibernian. Aberdeen drew 1-1 with Dundee United as Chris Maguire and David Goodwillie scored. Hamilton and Motherwell played out a scoreless draw.
