Living Thing

Wichita

Rating: 3/5

Such is the damage 'Young Folks' did to me that I can barely hear Peter Morén's pasty singing voice before I'm whistling the goddamn tune and have to turn my iPod off. I couldn't even listen to Seaside Rock, P, B & J's follow-up to Writer's Block. In fairness to the Swedish trio, I think they realised this as it was a limited release. Living Thing, then, is the band's fifth album and is quite idiosyncratic, working with odd tempos and time signatures, production oddities and funny arrangements. It's not half as annoying as I thought it would be. The best tune undoubtedly is 'Nothing to Worry About', which will be in a beer ad before you can say Abba.
