Big Star

Keep An Eye On The Sky

Rhino

Rating: 4/5

When a reformed Big Star played Dublin in 2001, the audience resembled a who's who of Irish indie rock. Formed in Memphis in the early '70s, the band released a trio of classic Beatle-esque albums, #1 Record, Radio City and Third/Sister Lovers, but never achieved much fame beyond a small circle of rock critics. Like a dead painter, Big Star only got their due long after their demise, but their status is well deserved on the basis of this 4-CD boxset. Featuring a wealth of material from the group cited as an influence by everyone from Wilco to REM, you can't help but be dazzled.
