Tinie Tempah

It's actually quite difficult to listen to this debut from the rising south London rapper all the way through because 'Pass Out' is track three. Inevitably, you just keep going back to that tune.

Maybe it's the lyrics referencing The Hills, or the unforgettable line, "I've got so many clothes I keep some in my aunt's house," but either way, Tinie Tempah's mixture of bravado and realism is turning into a winning formula.

The West Coast piano riff of 'Illusion', and the casualness of "my neighbours keep getting murdered so we sleep with legal armour", adds street cred to Tinie's flow, but ultimately it's his willingness to embrace cheesy hooks – like the ridiculous motivational 1980s power ballad that is the chorus of 'Written In The Stars' – that makes him a new Dizzee for the post-Skins generation.

Incorporating jungle and drum and bass outros to some of the tracks adds a tinge of diversity, although unfortunately there's plenty of nondescript filler here too.
