There are many things we love about the RTÉ Guide, not least the sense of reassurance that it gives us – things can't be bad, after all, as long as the Guide is still there. We do love how it gives RTÉ slebs the full Vanity Fair treatment: in-depth and revealing interviews with our fave home-grown small-screen icons, complemented by a classy photo shoot. It's outdone itself, however, with the current cover, heralding an 'exclusive' chinwag with TG4 weatherman turned ubiquitous sex god Dáithí Ó Sé – we like to think of it as Dáithí's coming-out party. No, silly, not that kind of coming out… With a prestigious Rose Of Tralee hosting gig in the bag and primetime afternoon show about to launch, he's now officially a Major Player – and Ireland's Sexiest Man, to boot.
The provocative cover portrait in question pictures Dáithí enjoying a slow dance (a tango, perhaps) with an enigmatic brunette (back to camera, in case her father/mammy/husband/ brother recognises her) in a red dress – clutching a single red rose. His attentions are aimed not at her, but at you, instead – that's right, his eyes are saying, "She means nothing to me, and I'll be free for a bit of an old dirty dance with YOU next". Well, that's what his eyes appear to be saying. He might just be a bit tired.
Either way, those Rose Of Tralee escorts had better hold on tight to their lovely girls; no one can resist the gaze of Ó Sé. Now – time for that cold shower.
To me the picture says;
I cant look at this fellow, will this dance ever end!!
