* Peaches Geldof's strop in Dundrum last week is nothing new to this diarist. Two years ago the young star behaved just as badly when she was hired for another PR event in Dublin.
Declining photographs and dodging interviews, she proved about as media friendly as Howard Hughes was in his later years. Back then, it was the hacks storming off in protest.
It was always going to be car crash TV when she was booked to launch a fashion store last Thursday. And Geldof didn't disappoint. Pulling out of her DJ set and refusing interviews at Dundrum Shopping Centre, she was quoted as saying, "Oh my god. This is so F**ked up," before exiting stage left. Here's to the next visit then Peaches.
* Gavin Friday was among a panel of musicians discussing movie soundtracks at the Hotpress Music Show in the RDS over the weekend.
I have to say I'm impressed with Gav's latest news that singing legend Scott Walker has signed him up for a series of dates in London's Barbican next month.
"Scott is putting together a theatrical live show based around his last two albums. The only problem is he doesn't perform anymore so he wants to be one of the lead singers. You'd want to hear the music. It's like Samuel Beckett having a nervous breakdown."
Meanwhile recording his first solo album in nearly 10 years, Gavin has been having a listen to U2's new album due for release in the spring. He said: "It's like Achtung Baby. It has that punch but maybe not as dark though and with some of the most beautiful songs U2 have written. And I've heard plenty of them over the years."
