*Former Stranglers' front man Hugh Cornwell has dished the dirt about the group's famous row with U2. Way back in 1978 The Stranglers were accused of shoddy treatment of U2 when they hired the fledgling group to support them at Dublin's Top Hat Ballroom.
The Edge recounted: "It was a slightly disillusioning moment to realise the punk ethos didn't extend to giving your support band a dressing room or a few beers. But Bono hit back by breaking into The Stranglers' dressing room while they were onstage and nicking a bottle of wine."
In Dublin on Tuesday to launch The JD Set competition for unsigned bands, Hugh Cornwell is still bristling:
"If U2 hadn't been given any beers they should have told me. But really! It wasn't my job to go around checking to see if the support band had enough drink each night. I was the singer in a punk rock band not a hospitality manager."
Hugh Cornwell plays Spirit on 27 March 2009.
*?Irish stage star Susan McFadden laughed off reports which claimed she married in Liverpool last week.
The confusion is said to have begun when press reports mixed up her stage character Millie, who marries in touring musical 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers', with her real life relationship with actor Adam Booth.
"I think one newspaper article printed that I was getting married in Liverpool this week, without realising they were talking about what happens to my character in 'Seven Brides' and not me. Am I getting married? No. I only wish. I'm not even engaged and why Liverpool? I've got no connection to Liverpool at all except the musical is on there."
