A young campaigner was rewarded yesterday for her part in the campaign for better medical facilities for people with cystic fibrosis.

Orla Tinsley was honoured by Youth Work Ireland at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Santry last night by junior minister Barry Andrews.

Diarmuid Kearney, chief executive of Youth Work Ireland, said: "As a Youth Work organisation, one of the most important things we can teach young people is how to stand up for themselves and advocate for their needs. "The campaign by Orla Tinsley and other young people on the issue of cystic fibrosis facilities illustrates how young people taking the lead can influence change in society."
