A MAJOR security operation was put in place yesterday for the annual Apprentice Boys parade in Derry. As part of the plans a large force of riot police and armoured cars were deployed in the republican area of Ardoyne in north Belfast.


A small number of Apprentice Boys paraded past the area en route to the main event in Derry but, despite protests, the march went off peacefully.
