I think Nicola Stapleton (Post, 26 July) did not grasp the point I was making in my letter. It was not about the composition of the line-up on Miriam O'Callaghan's programme but about the content. Here were two people with their own agenda talking about the new Criminal Justice Bill as if it was the solution to all our criminal problems and anyone objecting to its implementation as some sort of socialist nutcase.

This bill, when it becomes law along with the new Blasphemy Bill, is going to make us the laughing stock of the world – but haven't our politicians done that already, so what the hell.
