Famous 'Tree Man' of Java releases new photos
Dede Koswara, also known as 'Tree Man' due to the bark-like growths on his body, released a new gallery of photos of himself in his home last week. Koswara, who lives in Java, Indonesia, suffers from a rare genetic problem that makes his immune system unable to fight a human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, causing extensive warts around his body and giving his limbs the appearance of branches. Doctors were mystified by his illness up until recently, and their diagnosis means that the warts have been dramatically reduced, enabling him to take better care of himself.

A Japanese man has married a character from a video game, broadcasting the ceremony on YouTube. The man, who goes by the moniker SAL9000 'met' Nene Anegasaki while playing a dating simulation game called Love Plus. The couple (along with a Nintendo DS) honeymooned in Guam.

A vicar in York, England has fallen foul of police and retailers after encouraging the poor to shoplift to feed their families. Fr Tim Jones said: "God's love for the poor and despised outweighs the property rights of the rich." A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police reminded the public that shoplifting is a criminal offence.
