The public has been urged to recycle an estimated 75,000 tonnes of packaging waste generated over the Christmas period.


Despite the recession we are expected to throw out 20m wine bottles, 13m beer bottles, 35m beer cans of soft drink and four million rolls of wrapping paper.


Repak says it hopes to recycle almost 45% of such Christmas waste.
