TÁNAISTE Mary Coughlan
has defended the manner in which the government had chosen to invest finance and steer the economy in recent years.

She said that while there
had been an over-reliance on
the construction industry,
the boom years were put to good use through the
payment of debts and supply
of public services.

Speaking on RTÉ radio yesterday, the Tánaiste
said she was currently
looking at how to reduce
costs and attract foreign investment.
