OVER 30 years since The Good Life was a TV hit, the Green Party will today launch a campaign encouraging people to grow their own vegetables.
Green Party food minister Trevor Sargent is encouraging people to follow the example of Barbara and Tom Good in the 1970s TV series and live a sustainable, simple and self-sufficient lifestyle by growing their own fruit and vegetables in allotments.
Sargent has an organic garden at his home in Balbriggan, north Dublin and he will pledge to get as many people as possible to start growing food and vegetables in allotments, community gardens , window boxes and their own gardens through the Get Ireland Growing campaign.
"Over the last number of years Irish people have got increasingly interested in good food, cooking and in living green lifestyles, and we have witnessed similar growth in people wanting to grow their own food," he said.
I must say I am in shock! Completely and utterly in shock!!!!!
The Green Party actually has a great idea which has nothing to do with involving carbon taxes paid to Wall Street Banks based on Al Gore lunatic Climate Change "science".
I have been growing my own organic veg for years now and long before the chattering classes discovered their superfical environmentalism. I even have my own youtube channel on helping othesr to grow their own orgaic veg. All done with any grants or phoney morality from Civil Service.
Still, better late than never that the Green Party have finally discoverd that enviormentalism is not only about deadly mercury lightbulbs or flying to Bali in a jet full of RTE journalists and Civil Servants to fight an imaginary crisis.
