What a great contribution to a balanced view of our society was provided by Michael Clifford's article on JP McManus (News, 11 July). I hope the fact that it was on the back page didn't deny it the audience it deserved. There was no sense of begrudgery here, just a calm reasoned review of the facts.

What contrasting contributions from Malachy Clerkin and Michael Clifford in last Sunday's edition on the subject of JP McManus. To me, Malachy's piece was what McManus and his PR advisers, his admirers and his associates, would like us to believe, but Michael's piece told it as it is.
