More than a thousand people will attempt to break a Guinness world record in Dublin later this month when they bounce around Merrion Square on Spacehoppers.
Organiser Mark Duckenfield, who is behind this year's AIB Street Performance Championships in Dublin and Cork, said he is hoping to beat the current holders of the record, Mexico City, which managed to get 1,257 people on Spacehoppers at once in 2009.
"We are organising the world record attempt for 20 June, and aiming for around 1,600 people. We would like it if people who want to join us in the attempt would email us and come along and give it a shot."
Duckenfield said it is the first of a string of record-breaking attempts the festival, which takes place every year, is planning.
"Every year at the street performance championships we will aim to break a Guinness record. It is wacky, very random, and quite ridiculous but a lot of fun."
The festival will also see well-known America's Got Talent 'Quick Change' stars go head to head with other national and international performers.
"It is completely free and we don't pay the performers.
"At the end of their performances, the public can donate money if they wish," said Duckenfield.
The event takes place at Fitzgerald Park, Cork, on 12-13 June and in Merrion Square Park, Dublin, from 17-20 June. Those interested in joining the attempt to break the Guinness record on 20 June should e-mail record@spwc.ie.
