Air Accident - 'Several' lives lost in Down helicopter crash


Several people are feared dead after a helicopter crashed in the Mourne Mountains in Co Down yesterday afternoon. It was not known how many people were on board, but local MLAJim Wells said he believed that "several" people had been killed. It is understood the crash happened in an area known as Leitrim Lodge between Hilltown and Rostrevor, at about 4pm.


Road Death - Garda appeal over Carlow road death


Carlow gardaí have appealed for witnesses after a man in his 60s died and two other people were injured in a car crash yesterday. The car was in a collision with another vehicle at 7.25am.


Transport - Disruptions on commuter rail line


Dublin Dart and rail users can expect disruption for the rest of the bank holiday weekend due to works. Limited services will operate from Dundalk/ Drogheda to Connolly Station only. Maynooth and Dunboyne M3 commuter services will operate to Connolly on a limited basis.


Clarification - St Molaga's School, Balbriggan


A report in last Sunday's newspaper about the state's overpayment of €170m for school sites carried a photograph that indicated €6.98m had been paid for St Molaga's National School, Bremore, Balbriggan. The Department of Education paid €6.98m for a school site at Flemmington/Bremore Balbriggan in 2007, but it is unrelated to St Molaga's which opened in 1987. We are happy to clarify this matter.


Technology - Newspaper iPad app


The Irish Independent has launched a new iPad application that allows subscribers to download its ePaper edition. The ePaper is a replica of the printed newspaper on your iPad and contains all Irish news sections. The app is free to download from Apple's app store. Readers then subscribe to the ePaper to read it. Subscription options range from one day to a year.


Charity Event - Roxy to turn on the Razzle for Calcutta street children


The Lotus Child Razzle Dazzle Charity Ball will take place on Saturday
