I was surprised and disappointed that the four information meetings organised by CLHEG – the four pharmaceutical companies planning to build eight 120m-high wind turbines in Cork Harbour – were so sporadically attended by the people whose lives would be so greatly affected by this industry. At one of the three meetings I attended I was one of just six people there.

About four years ago an identical project was planned in the vicinity of my property in Knockraha. Instead of believing what the so-called experts told me, I decided to do my own research and consequently discovered the truth about this useless industry. It was the most horrible and stressful time of my life, but it was worth it, because now I do not live near industrial wind turbines.

To those living in the Cork Harbour area, I would like to say, please do your research, inform yourself and then make a decision. Now is the time to question, to complain and to object. To those representing CLHEG, I would like to say, if you need carbon credits, please put your €30m into a real green project, the clean-up of Cork Harbour, instead of damaging people's quality of life and adding more pollution to the area in the form of concrete, steel and noise.
