Newstalks new show Emergency

? It wasn't exactly World War Two but Doheny & Nesbitt's pub on Baggot Street was so full, it looked like an air-raid shelter.

The gathering on Wednesday night was to launch Newstalk 106-108's new sketch show The Emergency.

No Dad's Army, the new Saturday morning slot boasts some of the country's top satirists including Joe Taylor, Morgan Jones, Eoin Byrne and Dermot Carmody.

Proof enough was yesterday's show which featured a spoof interview between Dave Fanning and 'De Bono' which revealed the bombshell that U2 will follow their accountants to live in Holland.

Dave: Why Holland, Bono? Aren't the Dutch the tallest people in Europe? I suppose you could stuff some more bank notes in your wedgy shoes."

The Emergency airs on every Saturday 11.30am – 12.00pm.

?Discos were invented in Mullingar. So says local DJ Christy Maye who claims the first 'Disc A Go Go' took place in Mullingar Parochial Hall way back in 1963. To celebrate Christy spin his discs again at The Westmeath Hospice and Father Liam Hayes' Argentinean Orphanage Charity Night taking place in The Greville Arms Hotel on Friday 27 March.

? Former Westlife star Brian McFadden caused a stampede of hacks when he showed up at Peter Werth's fashion show in The Morrison Hotel on Wednesday night. Back in Dublin to catch up with family and friends, the Artane-born singer is a close friend of the designer and was on fine form jousting with the press pack.
