Gardaí in Galway are seeking witnesses to an aggravated burglary during which an 80-year-old woman was assaulted on New Year's Day. Gardaí have asked that anyone who was in the vicinity of Shantalla Road, in Galway city, between 11am and 2pm on Friday afternoon contact them at Mill Street station on 091 538 000.


The culprit is described as being in his early 20s, about six foot in height, clean-shaven, with short dark hair.
