I would like a choir and it would consist of Erykah Badu, Chrissie Hynde, Joni Mitchell and Jenny Lewis. Then the male section would have Shuggie Otis, Skip Spence, Mos Def and Todd Rundgren. I would use them like a brass section. Then each one can step forward and take the lead for a bit.
Guitar: James Honeyman Scott
The late original guitarist for The Pretenders. His life was tragically cut short by heroin at the age of 24. He's one of my favourite guitarists so he has to be there.
Cello: Ernst Reijseger
He's a Dutch master cellist I first came across on his soundtrack to Werner Herzog's film The Wild Blue Yonder. The soundtrack is called 'Requiem for a Dying Planet'.
Drums: Fredrik Bjorling and Lee Harris
The drummer Fredrik Bjorling from Swedish band Dungen is a deadly drummer. Then opposite him I would have Lee Harris from Talk Talk. His style is very percussive.
Piano: Duke Ellington
He's the master. He had such a way with melody and arrangement. I'd get him to play some mental jump-up boogie.
