This week, three rosé wines of contrasting styles to tickle you pick. Perfect for the sunny summer evenings and to match lighter salads and fish dishes.
A simple description of strawberries and cream wouldn't be far off. This doesn't take itself too seriously and perhaps you shouldn't either. Forget the Riedel glasses, fill a tumbler with ice and sliced strawberries and pour in. A sweet summer refresher.
A dry style of rosé, yet still with a good sense of fun, playing on the name of the famous southern Rhône appellation. Behind the comic name is quite a serious wine. Fresh, good acidity, smooth red berries and white pepper. Southern France at its best.
Arguably one of the best rosé champagnes on the market. It's delicate and elegant with lovely strawberry-scented fruit, citrus and a creamy mousse with a long lingering finish. Described elsewhere as a "little short of love in a glass". What better way to celebrate the start of summer and the end of the recession?
In Dublin today? Head on down to Pembroke Cricket Club/Monkstown RFC for Wine Australia's 'Touchwine 2010' for some tag rugby, barbecue and a fine selection of Australian wines, all for a good cause with proceeds going to Focus Ireland and the Hutt Street Centre in Adelaide.
Entertainment for kids too.
