Town in Norway reduced to mere crumbs...


In Norway, the people of Bergen are devastated after a replica town made of gingerbread was destroyed by vandals. Police and local media are appealing for help in apprehending the vandals who wrecked the city's famous Christmas decoration consisting of 650 biscuit houses. "The people who did this must be full of gingerbread dust. They will smell a long way," police inspector Erik Sveaas said.


Sensible US judge rules against a stomach full of lead


A rather sensible judge this week blocked a law introduced in July in Tennessee that allowed members of the public to bring handguns into premises that served alcohol as long as the restaurant or bar made more than half their profits from food.

Human Rights Watch is currently monitor­ing a situation in Saudi Arabia where a grow­ing number of people are being sentenced to death for witch­craft. A Lebanese TV personality is the latest victim, with two other people arrested on similar charges last month.
