IT was one of the most publicised book launches of 2010, but sales of Ryan Tubridy's JFK have peaked at 5,290 after one month.

Figures from media monitoring company Nielsen Bookscan show that JFK in Ireland: Four Days That Changed a President is in fourth position in the top 10 chart, after John Giles' autobiography A Football Man, Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Jamie Oliver's 30 Minute Meals.

The sales so far are worth about €105,119, according to Nielsen.

The chronicle of JFK's visit to Ireland was launched in a blaze of publicity including extracts in the Irish media and a promotion in an RTÉ documentary.

Tubridy took the best newcomer of the year award for the book in last Thursday night's Irish Book Awards. Controversy had surrounded the nomination after the book was shortlisted two months after the final closing date for the category.
