Andrea Gilligan, (24) from Ballyshannon, Co Donegal who achieved the highest marks in the broadcasting module of the MA in Journalism at NUI, Galway receiving first class honours, is the winner of this year's Donna Ferguson Memorial Award. The award, which was initiated by her family and community in Belleek, Co Fermanagh, commemorates Donna Ferguson's achievements while she was a student on the programme in 2006.

Donna was posthumously conferred with her MA, following her untimely death in a car accident in December 2006. The address and presentation was made by the editor of the Sunday Tribune, Nóirín Hegarty, at the Siobhán McKenna Theatre to Gilligan, the eldest grand-daughter of RTÉ's first weatherman Michael Gilligan, from Garrison in Co Fermanagh.
