If fashion has forsaken the Magic Numbers, then it's fashion's loss. Lush folk-pop is still the template, but on their third album the fraternal/sororal Gannons and Stodarts have moved on from their debut's sunshine vibes to a more layered, Fleetwood Mac-meets-Prefab Sprout sound. It swells, soars and does strange things to the heart. Anyone who lost interest circa their more difficult second album needs to give them another chance. Wonderful.
