The brother of the late game show host Leslie Crowther was in a critical condition in hospital yesterday after a knife attack in which his wife died.

Frank Crowther, who is in his 80s, was found near the body of his wife, Winifred, at their home in Sutton, Surrey, on Thursday.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "The victim has not yet been formally identified.

"She was pronounced dead at the scene. The post-mortem examination revealed she died of multiple stab wounds.

"A man in his 80s was also found unconscious at the scene. He is in hospital in a critical condition."

Mrs Crowther, also in her 80s, was suffering from Alzheimer's and was being cared for by her husband, according to reports.

Leslie Crowther, who hosted The Price is Right, died in 1996 aged 63.

His daughter, Caroline, was married to Irish rock star Phil Lynott, who died in January 1995.
