THE condition of an Irish woman attacked with a baseball bat in the US has improved although doctors have reported only limited brain activity since she was taken out of an induced coma.
Natasha McShane (23), pictured above with Brian Cowen, had been on a night out with friend Stacy Jurich (24) when both women were attacked by a man in the Bucktown area of Chicago last month. She has remained in a critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
A statement from the medical team said: "Natasha's health is improving, although she remains in serious condition. The pressure on her brain as a result of the injuries she sustained has decreased, and so she has been weaned off of coma-inducing medications."
