MEP Marian Harkin: need for mutual support

A NATIONAL conference for independent politicians took place yesterday.


Organised by MEPs Marian Harkin and Kathy Sinnott, the conference was examining how modern technology can help a candidate win an election.


Harkin said it was daunting to enter politics outside of a party structure and that yesterday's conference would provide mutual support for independents.


The conference heard how modern technologies like Facebook, Bebo and Twitter can be used as a cheap effective means of communication.
