Five men were arrested in Co Louth yesterday as part of an ongoing Garda investigation into dissident republicans. Last night, two men were being held in Dundalk, two in Drogheda and another in Balbriggan under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.
Shots were fired at detectives during the incident near Omeath.
