Deborah Kelleher has been appointed director of the Royal Irish Academy of Music, succeeding pianist John O'Conor who was at the helm of the RIAM for 16 years.
Since 2008 she has been the academy's international relations coordinator, representing the RIAM internationally at conferences and meetings and forging significant relationships with many of the world's most prestigious music conservatoires.
Speaking on her appointment as director chairman Dr Brian Aylward said that "Ms Kelleher's dynamism, commitment to excellence and leadership qualities ensure that the RIAM can continue to develop its reputation internationally whilst sustaining its enviable position as Ireland's premier music institution."
