THE Immigrant Council of Ireland has said it is still receiving more than 700 calls a month from migrants hoping to secure residency here. It said the numbers gave a lie to speculation all migrants were abandoning Ireland for economic reasons.


Chief executive of the ICI Denise Charlton said that migrants were entitled to a "fair, transparent... immigration system".
