RTÉ broadcaster Marian Finucane is in a wheelchair after a fall in her home last week, it emerged yesterday. The popular radio host revealed details of her injuries during her live radio show yesterday morning.

A spokeswoman for RTÉ confirmed Finucane, pictured yesterday with her son Jack, had sustained a fracture to both of her ankles, meaning she would need to use a wheelchair "for a short period".

However, the spokeswoman stressed Finucane's work had not been affected and she would continue to present her weekend radio show as normal.

Last year, Finucane's RTÉ radio colleague Joe Duffy had to undergo surgery on his right leg after it was broken in two places.

Duffy was hit by a reversing car as he was returning books to Pearse Street library in Dublin's city centre.

He has since returned to work but has spoken about the painful nature of the injuries he received.
